Fresh off the heels of taping a special to Austin City Limits, everyone’s favourite Ivy Leaguers, Vampire Weekend a.k.a V-Dubz a.k.a The Dubz a.k.a The Greatest Band Alive set the internet (and a few Saabs) ablaze today with the release of two singles off their forthcoming record, Modern Vampires of The City.Their third LP comes out May 6th in the UK and May 7th in the U.S., but the band satisfied eager fans with the new tracks today. ‘Diane Young’ was premiered by Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 and features frenetic drumming and singer Ezra Koenig’s trademark yelp forced through some Elvis-like contortions. ‘Step’ is placid in comparison, but cements Koenig as the master songwriter of his generation with his clever wordplay rivalling any rapper’s.
